Director of Building Operations
Marie W. Pace is the director of building operations for the Karsh Institute of Democracy, bringing more than 25 years of leadership experience in facilities, operations, hospitality, and academic administration at the University of Virginia. Known for her collaborative leadership style, she has partnered across the University—including the Office of the President, Darden School of Business, School of Education and Human Development, and Facilities Management—to deliver exceptional operational support and build strong cross-functional partnerships.
Before joining the Karsh Institute, Pace served as the director of Carr’s Hill operations, overseeing the University’s presidential residence, including facilities maintenance, staffing, events, and hospitality. Earlier in her career, she led hotel operations for the 180-room Inn at Darden, as well as serving in academic administration leadership roles at both the Darden School of Business and the School of Education and Human Development.
Pace holds a B.A. in English from James Madison University and earned a certificate in leadership from the Darden School of Business Executive Education and Lifelong Learning program.
